Ealing Choral Society raised £1500 for homeless people on Saturday 12th January 2013, singing songs from the musicals at a concert supper held at the Brentham Club. The funds raised will go to the Ealing Churches Winter Night Shelter, which helps homeless people in Ealing struggling at this time of year.
Alison Wood, who was at the concert representing ECWNS, said, “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening, particularly joining in with old favourites such as Singing in the Rain and Get me to the Church on Time! ECWNS are delighted to receive this money for the Night Shelter and it will greatly benefit our homeless guests during these cold winter months.”
Ealing Choral Society’s conductor Jonathan Williams added, “The choir is delighted to have helped ECWNS with their vital work. We also had a lot of fun singing these all-time classics, and getting the audience to join in. Perhaps some people have found their voice and will now join the choir!”
The audience also enjoyed a delicious two-course supper and an auction during the evening, and were treated to a piano solo of Debussy’s Clair de Lune from Charles Economou.
