Ealing Choral Society was saddened to hear of the death of Richard Briers, who was for many years a Vice-President of the choir.
Richard Briers and Ealing Choral Society were connected through their mutual support of Parkinson's Disease Society.
Ealing Choral Society performed at the annual PDS carol concerts for over 20 years under the baton of conductor James Gaddarn, raising many thousands of pounds to fund research and to support those afflicted with the disease.
ECS chairman Shane Beadle commented "Richard Briers generously gave his time to read at the carol concerts because his cousin Terry Thomas was seriously disabled with Parkinson's Disease. Richard went on to become President of Parkinson's Disease Society, and also graciously accepted the invitation to become a vice-President of Ealing Choral Society."
He relinquished his role of vice-President in 2012 with a note explaining "I am now becoming a little old I'm afraid."
Richard Briers CBE (14 January 1934 – 17 February 2013)
