Upcoming Cecilia McDowall world premiere with The Sixteen

Ealing Choral Society is excited to share details of the world premiere of a new work by our Vice President Cecilia McDowall at the upcoming event A Garland for the Queen: A tribute to the life and reign of Elizabeth II. This very special concert featuring world-renowned chorus The Sixteen, will be streamed live by ClassicFM from the extraordinary setting of the Chapel Royal at the Tower of London, Tuesday, 11 October at 7PM BST.  The programme of choral crown jewels celebrates Queen Elizabeths I and II and the legacy of British music and culture prominent during both their reigns. Cecilia McDowall’s piece, O Lord, Make Thy Servant, Elizabeth, commissioned for the concert by the Genesis Foundation, takes the text from Byrd’s setting of “Lord take thy servant,” and sets it to music creating a feeling of quietness, joy and uplift.
